I am currently having both computer and network problems. Once both have been taken care of I will get back to a regular schedule of posting comic. I can tell you that the first chapter has 2 more issues to go and then we will get to see some of Adrian’s past as well as a tale about the founding of Elisairia.
Here is a watercolor of the king himself, Clisair. He rules over all of the kingdoms on the continent of Elisair as well as most of its offshore islands, with the exception of one island chain. More will be said about that one as the story continues.
All of the character sketches have been done in pencil and watercolor so far. With each one I am remembering more and more at how you HAVE TO remember transparency when working with the stuff. If you don’t make sure that it has transparency you wind up with the stuff crystallizing and looking ugly. So all you out there that want to work in watercolor make sure that you remeber WATER so that it is nice and fluid.
Well enjoy the painting and enjoy the story.
Since we are starting to get to the interior of The Tavern Of Lamps I have done up Telgar, the owner of The Lamp. Like the other character sketches I have done this in watercolor. I know some of them might not look exactly right but I am having to relearn the medium all over again. When painting in watercolor my strong suit has always been that of landscapes and not peoples faces. You can tell that when you look at the backgrounds of the people that I have painted.
Maybe I should make them all look like rocks or water, then maybe I will get all the shading right 😛
Anyway, enjoy and the comic will progress more on Monday with a tale about The Lamp itself.
Here is the second character watercolor for the cast of characters. This one is of Marra and I am starting to remember how it is that you are actually supposed to do for a watercolor painting. I am so used to technical and abstract that I had to start thinking outside of even another box. (How many boxes are out there anyway to climb out of?)
Anyway, I hope that you enjoy this one of Marra, the wife of the bartender Telgar at the Tavern Of Lamps.
Here is my first watercolor in I am guessing over 30 years. It is of Adrian, the heroine and one of the main characters of The Bards of Elisar. I hope you enjoy the pics.
